December 6, 2018Rotary Club of Belgaum in association with Aequs Foundation had organized foundation stone laying ceremony for Toilet blocks to be constructed in Kannada Primary School at Anandpur, Hattargi, Belagavi. On this Occasion, Rotary Foundations’ South India Chairman Rtn. Avinash Potdar, District Governor of the Dist.3170 Rtn Anand Kulkarni, Past Dist Governor Rtn Ganesh Bhat were the Guest of Honours. Mr. Rajeev Kaul, Managing Director of Aequs Group also graced the occasion as a Special Guest.
The District Governor Anand Kulkarni addressed the gathering and spoke on the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) for school girls. He also announced a donation of $8000(Rs. 5,00,000/-) for wash stations to be added in these adopted schools. Healso offered $10,000/ (Rs.6,50,000/-) on MHM.
This Global Grant was applied in 2014-15, under the Presidentship of Rtn. Sharad Pai. His persistent efforts could get a sanction of approximately Rs. 27 lakhs from The Rotary Foundation. 10 Schools identified in Yamakanmardi & Hattargi area who will get safe drinking water and school benches. Six Schools will get separate toilet blocks for girls and boys and will be completed in the next 3 months. A Term Gift Program with an overall project cost of $1,00,000 (Rs.65,00,000/-) dedicated for Happy Schools initiative is under active consideration in association with AEQUS Foundation. Young and dynamic Rtn. Akshay Kulkarni is supporting the process and taking this initiative to the next level.
